|a After Gephardt - House Democrats say they wouldn't be surprised if Minority Leader Richard A. Gephardt steps down from his leadership post after the November elections. In fact, many of his colleagues say they would be surprised if Gephardt doesn't move on, regardless of whether the post of speaker is his for the asking, so that he can concentrate on a possible run for the presidency in 2004.
