|a Am konkreten Fall Lesotho werden die beiden beispielhaften Ansätze der Entwicklungssoziologie - Modernisierung und Abhängigkeit als Erklärung für die wachsende Armut der betroffenen Länder - einer kritischen Betrachtung unterzogen. Herausgearbeitet wrden die Modernisierungs-Anomalien und die Inkonsistenzen in den vielfältigen Erscheinungsformen der Abhängigkeit. Abschließend folgen Überlegungen über die notwendige weitere Forschung über das Zusammenspiel von gesellschaftlicher Modernisierung, ökonomischer Abhängigkeit und weitverbreiteter Entstehung von Armut.
